Tom Sr. with Purepecha Indian childTom & Lynn, owners of VENTANA AL MUNDO (Window to the World), first experienced the wonders of Latin American art in 1969 and 1970 when they lived in Panama. They visited several Latin American countries and drove the Pan-American Highway to the United States. They added to their experience during a 25 year career in the Travel Industry, with personal trips as well as escorting travel groups throughout Mexico, Central America, and some South American countries.

Lynn & MichelleAs their exposure to, and understanding of Latin America grew, they began to decorate the travel office with gift items and indigenous art that they purchased while traveling. With a little planning, the travel office became a gift store. Tom and Lynn’s three children, Michelle, Tom Jr. and John-Michael also became involved. First, with inventory control, accounting and decorating; and ultimately with the international shopping, buying and shipping. Suddenly a travel business in St. Louis, Missouri became two unique gift stores; one in Missouri and one in Florida, specializing in Latin Imports for home décor.

Tom Jr. (1977-2007)By 2004 the whole family had relocated to Florida and currently Tom & Lynn operate the family business as a single store in Cocoa Village, Florida, still specializing in Latin American gifts; however, they now offer artisan designed sterling silver jewelry from Taxco, and handmade gifts and decorating items with an emphasis on indigenous art and Fair Trade Federation items. As for the future, Tom and Lynn are planning new trips to explore more of Latin America in search of indigenous art and decorative accents for home décor; and maybe expanding to a East Coast location as well as Cocoa Village, Florida.
